I believe that if businesses put people and planet first, that profit will follow. And that alot of what is wrong in the world today stems from the dysfunctionality of the current business model that is totally obsessed with profit, and in my opinion broken. Over the last 20 years, I have gradually made the journey from profit focused entrepreneur to heartful leader.

Thornton's Budgens store in Camden's Belsize Park has assembled more than 1,700 plastic-free products using a variety of materials as alternatives to plastic packaging, such as beechwood nets, pulp, paper, metal, glass, cellulose and cartonboard.

All reusable, recyclable, or compostable. But if for some reason there is still anything left over, our waste contractor turns it into electricity!

We have gradually moved toward more loose produce and reduced packaging in this area. We offer a number of other categories loose where customers can re-use packaging: water, olive oil, vinegar, Ecover washing products, grains, pulses and nuts.

It took us just 10 weeks to remove plastic packaging from more than 1,500 products – a task supermarkets have said could take years to implement.
